Tire pressure and TPMS: a practical check
Use the pressure printed on your car’s driver-door-pillar label—not the maximum shown on the tire sidewall.
Model context: 2019 US Model 3. Wheel and tire specifications vary. Always follow the Tire Information label fitted to your vehicle.
Check and correct the pressure
- Let the car sit for more than three hours so the tires are cold.
- Open Controls › Service, or check the Tesla app, to view measured pressures. A short drive may be needed before values appear.
- Compare every tire with the cold pressure on the driver-side center door pillar.
- Add or release air, recheck with a reliable gauge, and replace each valve cap.
- Drive above 15 mph (25 km/h) briefly so the tire-pressure monitoring system can refresh.
Weather and warning lights
Cold weather can lower tire pressure by about 1 psi for every 10°F (6°C) drop. If the TPMS indicator flashes for about one minute and then remains on, the system may have a fault that needs service.
Rotation reminder
Tesla recommends rotating tires every 6,250 miles (10,000 km), or when tread-depth difference reaches 2/32 in (1.5 mm), whichever comes first.
