How to restart your Model 3 touchscreen
If the display freezes or behaves unexpectedly, Tesla provides a restart procedure using the steering-wheel controls.
Park first. Do this only when stationary and in Park. Vehicle status, warnings, and the rear camera are unavailable on the screen during the restart.
Three steps
- Bring the car to a stop and select Park.
- Press and hold both steering-wheel scroll buttons together. Release when the display goes black.
- Allow roughly 30 seconds for the display to restart.
What this changes
This procedure restarts the touchscreen, not the other vehicle components. It is not a vehicle power cycle.
If the screen still does not respond
After a few minutes, Tesla recommends trying a vehicle power cycle if possible. Follow the official power-cycle instructions for that separate procedure.
